Our
freshwater fishing program centers around our DeHaviland
Beaver float plane. This aircraft was built in Canada and was
designed to do one thing: fly heavy loads out of short airstrips
or short water takeoffs. It is often referred to by Alaskan and
Canadian bush pilots as "the best bush plane ever built."
It is also the most sought after bush plane in the world.
This aircraft gives us the flexibility to haul up to seven people
to remote lakes, streams and bays that in some cases are not accessible
by boat. Most likely, the only company you will have on these
trips will be bears, bald eagles and other wildlife.
Our
guests will have the opportunity to fish with either fly or conventional
tackle. Our float plane is designated for lodge clients only.
This means multiple moves during your fishing day.
Flyout
Freshwater Fishing
We
are proud to be permitted by the U.S. Forest Service to offer
guided and unguided trips into the Tongass National Forest and
wilderness areas. Imagine the thrill of hooking a trophy steelhead
on a light fly rod or spin rod. We target steelhead, rainbow
trout, cutthroat trout, dolly varden, silver salmon and sockeye
salmon. Southeast Alaska is dotted with hundreds of lakes and
streams that are accessible only by float plane.
We
are the only lodge in Sitka that operates its own float plane
for flyout excursions. Our fishing guides are local Alaskans
with many years of fishing experience.
